Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

Since I just recently saw the new Harry Potter movie I thought it would be something good to analyize. Surpisingly enough I've found a variety of reviewers that rated this movie very differently. Some gave it a 4, some gave it a 10, and others like me thought it deserved a 7 out of 10. Why do you suppose I only gave it that much and not something higher? (as a side note I've just realized something, I've read the Harry Potter series so much yet I can't remember how to spell certain names! Nooo! Yes I thought that was quite funny)

Well there were many things that upset me in this movie which contributed to why I gave it only a 7. I, like others thought the producers should haved stayed as close and true to the books as possible since they are like the"Holy Grail" as one reviwer described. This is because I've read the books so many times that I already have a picture in my head as to how certain parts play out. Yet in this movie the producers jumped around alot. I hated it.
(Let me first describe the beginning and then tell you why)
In the begining Harry woke up from his Voldy (yes you may laugh but that's what many people like to call him) dream at the Burrow. He was supposed to be at the Dursley's still! Then they completely jumped to the Weaslys hiking to the port key. And still they jumped again, the producers didn't even show the quidditch world cup! No, they had to jump to the Death Eaters destroying the wizards' campsite. Therefore because the producers cut and jumped so much in the beginning it made me, as a fan, unhappy. Yes I do realize they can't show everything, but because the movie jumped so much, it made me uneasy because my mind wasn't allowed to relax and take everything in. It was just one scene after another (and yes I'm exagerating). Thus because of this, I was not happy at the beginning.

(Thankfully, the movie finally slowed down when the trio reached Hogwarts. Allowing me to relax and enjoy the movie. Thus the scenes at Hogwarts were much more enjoyable.)

Yet on another note, I thought the acting was done tremendously well. Why? Well Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter), Rupert Grint (Ron Weasly), and Emma Watson (Hermione Granger) are portrayed to be older. For example Dan is 16 (a year behind me) and because he is this age he acts more closley to mine which allows me to connect to him more. Also not just him, but mostly every main character (that is a student) in this film are growing up and maturing allowing the teenage audience to connect with them more since they share the same views and actions.

For example, the acting in the Yule Ball was done very well. I connected to this scene so well because the trio (Dan, Rupert, and Emma) as I described above are around my age therefore their actions closely resemble my age.
Dan did an excellent job acting nervous around Katie Leung (Cho Chang) who he tried to ask out, but got turned down. Also Rupert contributed to this funny and embarrassed atmopshere by not knowing how to dance and asking a funny question as to where he was supposed to put his arm on Professor McGonagall. Lastly, Emma contributed because she acted more like a girl since she was trying to portray that her character was beginning to like Victor Krum. So because of that she cried in front of Ron and yelled at him for ruining the ball. Therefore because Emma was so dramatic it affected the audience (particularly teenage girls) because she was starting to act more like a girl that had hormones. Also Dan and Rupert gave that embarrassed sort of humor which spiced up the scene making it more funny and enjoyable to watch.

Thus I hope you can see as to why I gave it a 7. It was just that the producers cut too much out and jumped around alot. Yet I didn't give it anything lower because I enjoyed the acting and some of the scenes they decided to keep in.
Yet on just a last note I'd like to say that the ending leaves you very depressed. They portary the return of Lord Voldemort so dark, creepy, and scary that it leaves the audience spooked. Yet the producers don't really end the movie that happy. They try and end it with the trio laughing and with joyful music but because they portraied Voldy so dark it outwayed the end. Therefore it makes the audience feel more depressed at the end since Lord Voldemort is back. (This is why I gave it a 7 out of 10)

Thanksgiving Break

Yay Thanksgiving is coming up soon, so I'm very happy!! Yes but then a thought comes to me and asks why am I so happy for Thanksgiving?

Several reasons attribute to this. The first one is that we have no school which is very nice since we get a break from classes. This helps me because I don't have to stress about homework assignments or tests since there's no school. Also because we have no school I can catch up on homework assignments that I otherwise probably would have procrastinated on. For example, I'm in AP art this year and it's hard because we recieve one art assignment a week. Therefore I have to hurry and get my picture done in order to recieve an "A" grade for it. But since I have no school, during Thanksgiving I can work on catching up on my art pictures. This helps me to not be further behind and I can actually take more time to get the layout and proportions right on my picture. Thus Thanksgiving break allows me to catch up on homework and get it done thereby enjoying the rest of the week, hopefully homework free.

Yet, there are other things that I throughly enjoy about Thanksgiving. The Food! But why would someone care about the food? Well it's because I (probably like most other people) only get to eat some of these foods on Thanksgiving, which is once a year. So I really look forward to eating foods like: turkey, stuffing, pie, mashpotatoes, etc, that I would hardly ever get to eat. They are just so yummy so that's why I look forward to eating.

Lastly, getting together with friends on Thanksgiving really makes the holiday more exciting. Why? Because we get to meet with certain people that we only talk to once a year. It can be surpisingly alot of fun when you engage in conversation with semi strangers, because you get to learn more about the person and kind of catch up with what has going on. This is nice because you feel more connected to them and you just feel like you know them better.

So now I hope you can see why I love Thanksgiving break. It's because we have no school and we get to eat food! FOOD FOOD FOOD FOOD FOOD FOOD!!

Carpet Cleaners are evil! muhahahaha

Well as you can see by the title the carpet cleaners came by to my house today. NOOOOOO! evilness! I'm also still running out of ideas so I think I'm going to try and analyze why I hate carpet cleaners. (oooh hate is a strong word I should use dislike) Yes I know this is very random, but oh well. hehe. It's something isn't it?

First of all, after the men clean the carpets, they are then left saturated in cleaning supplies. Now you might ask why is this such a big problem? Well it's because my feet get wet from the carpet which makes me mad. I'm mad since when I walk on the linoleum my wet feet tend to slip on the kitchen floor, allowing my body to fall down and crash to the floor which is not pleasent.

Another reason I dislike when carpet cleaners arrive is that I have to clean my room. This is true for most teenagers and children because of one reason, it's messy. Thus because it's so messy many people don't want to clean it since it might take hours to clean. For example, my room is packed with objects and books of various kinds, therefore making it a long, hard process to clean and sort. Since my room is packed with objects it takes around an hour to clean it because I have to group many different items and decide where to put them. Thus my body aches from the work which makes me even more tired. Also I can't lay on my bed. Why? Well it's covered with my precious room items, which makes me even more mad because I can't do my normal routines of the day which include lying on my bed to read, play gameboy, or just to rest.

So I hope you can understand why I don't jump for joy when my mother informs me that the carpet cleans are arriving. I'm just too lazy to clean my messy room, and I hate dealing with the wet floors and the possiblity of slipping on the kitchen floor.

Internet words

I think I'm really running out of things to say. So this is a really random one. Since because I'm on the internet so much with gaia and msn messenger I decided to analyze why people use internet abbreviated terms. First Ill give you a list of some of the terms that I know:

lol: laughing out loud
brb: be right back
ttyl: talk to you later
ASL: Age, sex, location
B4: before
g2g: got to go
jk: just kidding
Lal: love ya lots
ROFL: rolling on the floor laughing
B: back
k: okay
BF: boyfriend
GF: girlfriend
IC: I see
NM: nevermind
NP: no problem
YW: your welcome
RPG: role playing game
THX: thanks
im: instant messenger

As you can see these are just a handful of what people use when talking on the internet. So let us ask the question, why do people use these abbreviations? Well one reason might be that the internet is not an english class. People aren't being tested or graded on as to how well they can write. Therefore people tend to be more lazy when talking to friends on instant messenger or websites because no one is around to criticize their writing skills.

Abbreviations or acronyms are just a way to compress communication. Take for example the abbreviation ttyl, or in other words talk to you later. See it compresses the phrase by taking the letter of each word to create an acronym. By this you can realize that humans are natually lazy in that they will always try to find shortcuts instead of doing the work. Thus, people use these acronyms to decrease their work or time because it's just easier and faster to type an acronym then a whole phrase of words. For example if you are speaking to a friend on msn messenger and you are in a hurry then you will probably use internet abbreviations because it speeds time up, therefore allowing you to talk to your friend for a couple more extra minutes. have to hurry and tell a friend something and you aren't that fast of a typist, you can use internet acronyms to speed time up.

Another reason for using acronyms can be for slow typists. I've seen this in that some of my friends who are a slow typists tend to use acronyms more then I do (I'm a fast typist). The reason for this is that abbriviations provide a crutch for those who are slow. They can still get their point across or answer faster when talking to someone who is faster then them.

Thus people use internet abbrevations because it's faster and easier to type a certain phrase of words. lol I even use them. ha see?
