Stake Dance

Yes I must really have run out ideas if I'm doing the "Stake Dance" I went to. Okay so this was to celebrate New Years, except we did it friday night.

Alright let's get to it. :) (yay for smiley!)

So as one might know it is highly embarrassing to ask someone you don't know to dance. Yet as I ponder, I wonder why is that? It's because (in a girl's point of view) you have to hold their hand and put your left hand on their shoulder while dancing very close to them. Now this can become quite uncomfortable because you don't know this person at all! They are a complete stranger to you, so it feels unwise to be dancing with them in that position because they are not a friend you know well. It feels as if you are invading their personal bubble by touching them in that way. As a result, I often feel like a fool and I'm reluctant to ask a boy who I don't know to dance.

Yet as another result I tend to talk alot when dancing. Why might you ask? Well if he's a stranger then it's a way I can get to know him a little bit. Mostly it's just a way to pass time so that there are no awkward moments where we don't talk. Thus I try to avoid the embarrassment by talking and asking questions. (side note: not to mention that it's still embarrassing to dance with someone I know!)

On another note why was this dance so much fun? Well first of all, I got to see my friends who I haven't seen since the day before Christmas break. So I was happy to see them because I haven't had a chance to hang out with them. Also because they have such interesting and enjoyable personalities this made the dance more exciting. Therefore we got really hyper. ;)

Second, the music is so upbeat and loud that one cannot help but get hyper. The DJ sometimes plays songs that I know of so then I often join in with the singer. Thus certain songs that I am familar with contributes to making the dance more exciting because well I just love listening to those songs!

So yes I enjoy going to dances but it's also an embarrassing and uncomfortable environment when slow dances begin.

Yeah dances are a little uncomfortable but they can be fun... or so they say. You're lucky you at least know people in your stake though. Just about everyone in my stake goes to Provo high so I don't know anyone at all whatsoever and at the dances they have these huge walls of adults around the doors and no food so they're impossible to escape! I got trapped once last year and it was torchorus. I've never since been to a stake dance.I think I'm prejudice against all dances now and I think they're all over rated!! Ps d'you have a good Christmas? :)
